Children's Hospital Oakland Research Institute's Services

In addition to conducting exceptional, nationally and internationally renowned research, CHORI also offers research-related services stemming from CHORI's commitment to improving health and wellness across the globe.

CHORI's Center for Genetics maintains the largest genomic library in the world; through its BACPAC Resource Center, CHORI makes this vast collection of recombinant DNA available to the academic scientific community. In addition, The Center for Genetics also provides diagnostic molecular genetics tests to qualified professionals in the medical community.

As a result of revolutionary techniques pioneered by Cedric Shackleton, PhD, DSc, CHORI is also able to provide noninvasive prenatal diagnosis for select conditions through its Mass Spectrometry Laboratory. Finally, CHORI is proud to house the only not for profit Sibling Donor Cord Blood Program in the world, providing the opportunity for one more chance at curing fatal pediatric conditions.
