Wen-Shu Wu, Ph.D., is an Associate Scientist at Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute, and a Principal Investigator at the University of California, Berkeley Stem Cell Center. Prior to joining CHORI, Dr. Wu was a principal investigator at the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence in Stem Cell and Progenitor Cell Biology, Center for Molecular Medicine, Main Medical Center Research Institute, and an assistant professor of the Program in Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology, the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Wu received his Ph.D. degree in cancer biology from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX in 2001 and pursued his postdoctoral training at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Wu focuses his research in the broad area of stem cell biology. In particular, Dr. Wu investigates ways to enhance stem cell regeneration following stem cell transplantation, and is working to develop novel stem cell therapy approaches for curing blood cell diseases by combining somatic cell reprogramming and genome editing.
