Dr. James Feusner has been a treating pediatric oncologist, the Director of Oncology, and the Chair of the Multidisciplinary Tumor Board at Children’s Hospital of Oakland since 1979. During this time he has cared for and assisted in the diagnosis and management of over 1,350 patients. In addition he has been the Principal Investigator to the Children’s Cancer Study Group (now the Children’s Oncology Group) during this entire period and the PI for the local CCOP (Clinical Community Oncology Program) of the East Bay since 1993. He has participated in teaching house staff, medical students, and heme/onc fellows over the years.

Dr. Feusner is Professor of Pediatrics (UCSF), and has authored >150 publications, most of which have been on the topic of pediatric oncology. He has served as a journal reviewer for 11 journals (6 currently: Blood, Cancer, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Pediatric Blood and Cancer, and the Journal of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology), and served on 8 editorial boards (4 currently: Blood, Pediatric Blood and Cancer, Clinical Advances in Hematology & Oncology, and the Journal of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology).

He also frequently provides consultations on a national basis for children with APL, hepatoblastoma, or children on dialysis who need chemotherapy for Wilms tumor.
