AIA Honors Preservation of Historic CHORI Building (Nov 2001) (Nov 2001) The renovation of Martin Luther King Jr Plaza was recently
chosen for a Special Recognition design award by the Santa Clara Valley
Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. The CHORI design won
in the category of renovation and adaptive reuse of an historic building.
The AIA jury selected this project -- the restoration, renovation, and
adaptive reuse of historic University High -- for its highly technical
program design and sensitivity to historic features of the building. The
award was presented in October to Dowler-Gruman Architects and CHORI at
an awards dinner and ceremony at the San Jose Museum of Art. The award
recipients are noted in the November 2001 issue of San Jose Magazine. |
