Alex Lucas Takes New Position at CHORI (August 2001)

Alexander H. Lucas, PhD, has accepted a newly created management position as Deputy Director of Medical Research at CHORI. An NIH MERIT Grant recipient, Dr. Lucas has worked at CHORI for over thirteen years as a principal investigator studying human immunity to encapsulated bacterial pathogens. In addition to continuing his scientific investigations, Dr. Lucas will assist the Director of Medical Research in the areas of strategic planning, program planning and development, development of early-career investigators, and facilities and operations.

The deputy director will support the development of program project grants and the integration of signature programs, and will promote strong translational research programs at the medical center.
