Nancy Sweeters, RN, PNP is a study coordinator and research clinician at Children's Hospital & Research Center Oakland. She works in the area of thalassemia in the hematology department. Nancy’s research career started in 1989 for Johns Hopkins University on the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in San Carlos Arizona. There she participated in a vaccine trial for meningitis. She joined CHRCO in 1991 as a traveling nurse and then became permanent staff on the hematology/oncology unit. In 1993, she became the nurse manager of the hematology/oncology unit. In 1995 she was recruited to assist in starting up the Pediatric Clinical Research Center at CHRCO and has continued her practice there. In 1996 she returned to get her graduate degree in nursing at the University of California, San Francisco. She graduated in 1998 as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She has served on the IRB since 1998.
