Denyse Pettersson, CIM, CIP is the Manager of the CHRCO IRB as well as a voting member of the board. She has accreditation as a Certified IRB Manager (CIM) and a Certified IRB Professional (CIP). Along with the IRB Chair she conducts expedited reviews. Ms. Pettersson has been working in the field of human subject research since 1994, initially assisting in submission and management of grants for the office of Nursing Research at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas. Then, instead of submitting research studies for review by the IRB, she joined the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research IRB next door, as the Coordinator for Human Research Compliance. When review of human subject research was assigned to another facility, she accepted a position as the IRB Manager for the State of Florida Department of Health in Tallahassee. Before becoming involved in research Ms. Pettersson lived in Los Angeles, California for 25 years and worked for more than 10 years at large law firms there, in civil and business litigation. She is happy to be back in California and to be working with such dedicated people at Children's Hospital.
