Judy Libow, PhD

Judith Libow, Ph.D., is Coordinator of Psychological Services in the Dept. of Psychiatry and Director of Psychology Training at Children’s Hospital Oakland.  She received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of New York at Albany, completed her Internship at the Texas Research Institute of Mental Sciences in Houston and did a Fellowship in the Dept. of Pediatrics at U. C. Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Libow has lectured and published extensively in the areas of children and trauma, women’s issues, family therapy and chronic illness, and factitious disorder by proxy.  She co-authored Hurting for Love: Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome, with Dr. Herbert Schreier, the first published book on this disorder.  She serves as a Contributing Editor for the American Journal of Orthopsychiatry as well as a reviewer for Pediatrics and the British Journal of Psychiatry.
